Another day where I won the morning and lost the afternoon. Dang.

The sell-off this morning was successful for me but I did not know that both Trump and Powell were going to give remarks around the mid-day, so the news over the wire caught me totally off-guard. As such I lost on some of my Tesla (TLSA) puts as everything turned suddenly around and didn't come back down.

I did pick up some more AMD and Shopify (SHOP) on the dip and was able leverage the V-shape shift to put some longer-term bets and new covered calls in place which I am happy with.

By my math I am ending the week in the red. I was on track for a green week until I got blind-sided by the tariff roller-coaster today, so will try to stay much more focused next week on pulling out gains on the open, turning off my computer, and walking into the woods until the following day's session.

• It is just so fascinating to hear the credulity from Bloomberg anchors whenever there is a talking head from the US administration on air.
• Broadcom (AVGO) news overnight skyrocketed it, causing some to claim the AI trade is not dead. I don't buy it.
• Set up some orders before the open to be ready, but reminded myself that I could cancel them.
• Broadcom already started to lose steam in the premarket session so I was pretty confident in a momentum put off the bell. That worked out well. Sticking around a short time also helped reduce risk there.
• Learned today that short covering can drive the prices up rapidly in the premarket and open part of the session. That explains some of the spikes that I have been observing and playing right after the open on some of the options.
• Had some open positions when Trump and Powell spoke which turned around the selloff and scuttled my positions.
• I am thinking my puts strategy only works during the first couple hours.
• Moved some more capital into longer-term bets on equities as they dipped way into my "buy" territory. Shopify (SHOP) for example, was under $100! What a steal!
